What to expect from our Bordeaux day tour to St. Emilion and Margaux

Depart from Bordeaux city center to the most beautiful of Bordeaux’s vineyards: Saint- Emilion on the right bank of the Garonne and Margaux on the left. This full-day tour includes a guided tour of St. Emilion village, lunch and a visit to 3 wine châteaux of the Saint-Emilion and Margaux wine appellations where you’ll taste 9 wines in total.

Saint-Emilion wine tasting and lunch

In the morning your first stop will be the iconic St. Emilion village, which has been awarded UNESCO world heritage status. You’ll enjoy a guided tour of the medieval village and its impressive monuments.

You will then visit your first Saint-Emilion-Grand-Cru château where you’ll taste 3 wines in a warm, welcome setting. This is where you’ll learn about the characteristics of St. Emilion’s terroir, history and the art of blending wine, which make the St. Emilion appellation so special.

Lunch will be on site and consists of a picnic comprised of local Bordeaux delicacies, an appetizer, a traditional dish from the Basque country and a dessert—washed down with a glass of wine from the château.

Margaux wine tasting

In the afternoon, you’ll head to the Médoc for a guided tour and tasting of 3 wines at a Grand Cru Classé château of the Margaux appellation (1855 classification).

Next, your guide will make stop outside the famous Château Margaux for those who would like to take some photos.

You will then visit a third château in Margaux to taste your final 3 wines.

This small group tour for up to 8 people set in stunning surroundings is the perfect introduction to the art of winemaking and wine tasting, and your knowledgeable guide will be on hand to answer any questions.

How to book your Bordeaux wine day trip to St. Emilion and Margaux

The tour will take place in English. If you would prefer another language, you can book a private Médoc tour.

Don’t forget your water bottle to fill up in the morning. At Olala Bordeaux we aim to promote eco-tourism and keep plastic waste to a minimum.

Children under the age of 16 and dogs are not permitted but may be accommodated on a private tour.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your tour departure time so we are able to keep to schedule and respect the time of our guests and vineyards.

While the châteaux and schedule may vary, the quality of our visits never will.

Some of the Saint-Emilion châteaux we visit may include: Château Grangey, Château Palais Cardinal, Château Taillefer, Château Cadet Bon, Château Ambe Tour Pourret and Château Balestard La Tonnelle.
