What to expect from our Cognac tour

The regional and traditional French brandy, known as cognac, is the epitome of outstanding expertise. Its signature golden color is often found in the best international restaurants, so why not visit some of the famous cognac houses and cognac makers? Discover the Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne and Borderies crus, as well as the secrets to the double distillation process in alembic or copper pot stills. You’ll learn the classifications from VS and VSOP to XO and Napoleon, and soon become an expert in this liquid gold!

Depart from Bordeaux

Early in the morning, your guide will pick you up from your hotel or residence in the center of Bordeaux, in a high-end air-conditioned vehicle. Then it’s onwards to the Cognac region (approximately 1 hour 40 minutes north of Bordeaux).

On the way, your guide will give a general overview of the Cognac vineyards and provide some useful information to help you understand the estates you’ll be visiting throughout the day.

Visit to a first cognac house

For your first visit, we recommend a family-owned estate where you can learn all the different stages of how this incredible golden liquor is made and sample their blends.

Lunch at a restaurant

Enjoy lunch in a restaurant we have booked in advance. We have several options depending on your preferences at the time of designing your personalized itinerary: traditional or a bistronomic restaurant, food and cognac pairing, a meal in town or one in the vineyards.

Visit to a second cognac house

For your second tasting, we recommend a larger, more renowned cognac house. This contrast will allow you to compare production techniques and methods of small estates with those of the larger, historic houses.

Examples of some of the cognac houses we can visit include: Rémy Martin, Martell, Hennessy, Camus, Courvoisier, Frapin, Boinaud/de Luze, Delamain, Raby and Baron Otard.

This is a rare opportunity for an unforgettable day seeing the vines, learning about the distillation process, visiting the cellars and taking part in cognac tasting in the famous Cognac itself.

Return to Bordeaux

In the evening, your guide will drop you back at your departure point in Bordeaux city center.
