What to expect from our guided tour to Arcachon Bay and the surrounding area

Escape the hustle and bustle of Bordeaux with our private tour of Arcachon to marvel at the natural beauty of Arcachon Bay and a town known for its iconic architecture.

Your private guide will accompany you on a full-day tour of Arcachon. Customize your guided tour by choosing the sights you’d like to see (Arcachon, dune of Pilat, oyster port, etc.) and your activities (oyster tasting, boat trip, restaurant, etc.). Here is an example of a potential itinerary:

Depart from Bordeaux

The tour departs from Bordeaux. The guide will pick you up in a van from your hotel or residence in the center of Bordeaux before heading to Arcachon, 1 hour and 15 minutes south-west of Bordeaux.

Visit to Arcachon Bay

In the morning, one idea is to visit a charming little oyster port. You will be given the opportunity (optional) to taste 6 fresh oysters, washed down with a glass of white wine and learn more local oyster production.

Visit to Arcachon

Next, you’ll enjoy an in-depth guided tour of the historic center of Arcachon, its villas and parks, to learn more about the town’s history and culture. You can also pick up some unique souvenirs as you explore the local shops and local delicacies.

At lunchtime, we’ll make our way to the seafront. For lunch, you have a choice between having some free time to explore the town and enjoying lunch with a view of the bay (with prior reservation), or at a typical oyster shack.

Visit to dune of Pilat

In the afternoon, we’ll scale Europe’s largest sand dune, the dune of Pilat (or Pyla), an awe-inspiring, unique, natural wonder, with breathtaking views from the summit stretching across the ocean. There is also the option to book a boat trip around the bay for a memorable time exploring the local cabanes tchanquées (huts on stilts used for oyster farming) and the Banc d’Arguin. We can also make lunch reservations for you aboard a pinasse, a traditional boat in the bay.

Return to Bordeaux

In the evening, after a day well spent at Arcachon Bay, your guide will drop you back at your departure point in Bordeaux.
